Deans Marsh Community Cottage will be hosting a subsidised First Aid & CPR Course for DMCC Volunteers & Community Members

Tuesday 23 May 
6pm – 9pm

(Plus up to 3 hours of online course work prior to this Date)

 

Courses Offered:
– Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) & CPR (HLTAID009)
– Provide First Aid in an Education & Care Setting (HLTAID012) (Formerly known as Workplace or Level 2 First Aid)

Participant Options

 

New first aiders (or re-accreditation)

  • Will need to complete approx. 3hrs of online pre-course work
  • Attend Tuesday 23 May from 6pm – 9pm at the Deans Marsh Cottage
  • Costs:
    – DMCC Volunteers FREE (subsidised by DMCC)
    – Community Members $90 (50% subsidy by DMCC)

CPR re-accreditation

  • Due every 12 months) for those who hold a current first aid certificate.
  • Will need to complete approx. 45min of online pre-course work.
  • Attend Tuesday 23 May from 6pm to 7.30pm at the Deans Marsh Cottage
  • Cost
    – DMCC Volunteers FREE (subsidised by DMCC)
    – Community Members $30 (50% subsidy by DMCC)

Additional Information

The course is designed to impart simple and easy to remember principles in a practical way.

This unit of competency deals with the provision of essential First Aid in recognising and responding to an emergency using basic life support measures. The First Aider is not expected to deal with complex casualties or incidents, but to provide an initial response where First Aid is required.

 

Topics Covered

Life threatening conditions: Cardiac Arrest, Non-breathing, Unconscious, Upper Airway Obstruction / Choking, Spinal Injury, Major Arterial Haemorrhage.

Medical conditions: Choking, anaphylaxis, croup, epiglottitis, diabetic emergency, epilepsy, convulsion, febrile convulsion, fainting, heart
conditions, hyperventilation, meningitis, poisoning, stroke, asthma, etc.

Trauma injuries: Burns, haemorrhage, convulsion, fractures, sprains & strains, bites & stings, heat & cold emergencies, spinal injuries, head injuries, chest injuries, abdominal injuries, facial injuries, etc.

Disturbed behaviour:
Psychosis, Neurosis, Transient aberrant behaviour.
